About the Artist

J.J. (Jim) Lynes has been woodcarving for over 30 years. He has created everything from whimsical trolls to realistic wildlife. He aspires to bring out the grain, color and natural imperfections in every piece of wood he sculpts.

J.J. Lynes earned a BA in Art Education from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. He started his career in advertising, publishing and graphic design and became very cognoscente of producing an end product based on a client's desires and needs.

After many years working in a professional environment, J.J. decided to pursue his true passion: helping others get in touch with their artistic talent. Since 2002, J.J. Lynes has been teaching art to K - 12 students in Wonewoc, WI. He lives in Mauston, WI with his wife Cathy.

J.J.'s artwork has been featured in magazines, newspapers, trade shows and online art blogs. His work can be seen in several galleries throughout the midwest. His most recent interview can be seen at Your Daily Muse, a blog featuring many talented artists from around the world.
